Prof. Dr. Şakir ÜNAL was born in 1970 in the Mut district of Mersin. He completed his primary education at Mut Primary School and his high school education at Mersin Atatürk High School.
Prof. Dr. Şakir ÜNAL started his medical education at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1987 and completed it in 1993 and received the title of medical doctor.
He completed his specialization training at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine between 1993 and 1999 and received his Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist.
After working as an operating physician at Mersin State Hospital for one year in 2000, he started his academic career at Mersin University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in 2001.
In 2004, he worked as a Research Fellow with Dr. Maria Siemionow at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States for one year and worked on microsurgery and facial transplantation.
He served as the Deputy Chief Physician of Mersin University Faculty of Medicine Hospital between 2006-2009.
He served as the Head of the Department of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery between 2008-2022.
Prof. Dr. Şakir ÜNAL, who is married and has two children, continues his professional work as a faculty member at Mersin University Faculty of Medicine and in his private practice.
